¶ And the earth was without form, and void;
and darkness was upon the face of the deep.
And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
1
¶ And God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called he Seas: and God saw that it was good. 2 ¶ And the Lord God said unto the woman, What is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat. 3 ¶ And the angel of the Lord called unto him out of heaven, and said, Abraham, Abraham: and he said, Here am I. 4 ¶ Make thee an ark of gopher wood; rooms shalt thou make in the ark, and shalt pitch it within and without with pitch. 5 ¶ And he was there with the Lord forty days and forty nights; he did neither eat bread, nor drink water. And he wrote upon the tablets the words of the covenant, the ten commandments. 6 ¶ For the horse of Pharaoh went in with his chariots and with his horsemen into the sea, and the Lord brought again the waters of the sea upon them; but the children of Israel went on dry land in the midst of the sea. 7 ¶ So the people shouted when the priests blew with the trumpets: and it came to pass, when the people heard the sound of the trumpet, and the people shouted with a great shout, that the wall fell down flat, so that the people went up into the city, every man straight before him, and they took the city. 8 ¶ So David prevailed over the Philistine with a sling and with a stone, and smote the Philistine, and slew him; but there was no sword in the hand of David. 9 |

¶ And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary:
for thou hast found favour with God.
¶ And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS. 10 ¶ And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn. 11 ¶ When the ruler of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and knew not whence it was: (but the servants which drew the water knew;) the governor of the feast called the bridegroom. 12 ¶ Jesus answered them and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Ye seek me, not because ye saw the miracles, but because ye did eat of the loaves, and were filled. 13 ¶ And when they came to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified him, and the malefactors, one on the right hand, and the other on the left. 14 ¶ And the angel answered and said unto the woman, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified. ¶ He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay. 15 ¶ And it came to pass, while he blessed them, he was parted from them, and carried up into heaven. 16 ¶ But if they cannot contain, let them marry: for it is better to marry than to burn. span style="font-size: 0.8em;">17 ¶ And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. 18 |
